SCCIA COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Ex-Scottdale Police Chief Barry Pritts & SCCIA Board President Matt Helinski
Members of SCCIA’s Board of Directors also serve on various other Scottdale committees and community groups and are involved in community events such as the Fall Festival, Christmas House Tour, Light Festival, Speaker Series and Picnic in the Park. SCCIA has also sponsored many Scottdale events.
SCCIA, under the leadership of Matt Helinski, was able to obtain a Police Shield through a National Police Association grant and assisted in submitting a state grant for a Police Records Management System. SCCIA also made a donation to Scottdale Borough for a second Police Shield to be purchased. The Police Shields are essential for the safety of the public especially the schools in the Southmoreland School District.
SCCIA was awarded a grant through Westmoreland Parks and Recreation to create an art mural in Scottdale at the Historical Train Station. A local artist and Southmoreland students collaborated to produce a painting in honor of Thomas A Scott. Materials were available for the same students to create a mural at the Scottdale Fire Department and a Scottdale Borough sign was gifted to the Borough for display in Scottdale.
